To those of us who watched aviation work its way through several
decades of various trials and tribulations, Phil Boyer proved
himself to be the real deal... a solid leader with some serious
smarts and a true passion for the world of aviation.
When he decided to retire after nearly two decades of
challenging leadership, we all felt poorer for the loss of his
participation but could not deny the that the guy deserved to
retire and enjoy his life the way that he wanted... free of the
pressures that he lived 24/7 for all those years.
Still; when he wants to speak up, even after nearly two years
absence from his leadership of the AOPA (which hasn't been the same
since and seems to be drifting inexorably 'off-mission'), we're
more than willing to drop everything and listen... and when he
wants to provide thoughtful advice for a guy who was (at that time)
about to take on what has to be one of the most challenging
leadership transitions in the sport and general aviation business,
we are ALL ears.
Rod Hightower,
Paul and Tom Poberezny
So... join Aero-TV for one of a series of intriguing interviews
from the grounds of Oshkosh 2010 as Phil, first, provides advice to
the newly named EAA President, Rod Hightower... and then stick with
us as Phil chats with us about GA's challenges for the future, how
he's enjoying his life post-retirement, and a really fun chat about
one of Phil's greatest passions-- checking out the latest in
aero-gadgets (Phil being one of the all time great gadget
geeks).
We hope you enjoy these chats as much as we did...
