Fulfilling a Flying Fantasy

Fantasy Of Flight Initiates New Fly-In Program

The skies of Florida were filled, recently, with the bright colors of vintage biplanes. The Florida Antique Biplane Association (FABA) flew into Fantasy of Flight in Polk City for one of their "traveling" monthly meetings and get-togethers. A dozen-plus biplanes landed at Fantasy of Flights vintage art deco aviation attraction on March 26th, 2005, completing the picture of the early barnstorming days of last century when biplanes would fly from field to field entertaining those left on the ground.

FABA started in March of 1996, with only five Stearmans. The initial group has continued to meet at various airport restaurants and the private airstrips owned by the members of the group since then swelling in ranks to 100 members and over 70 airworthy antique biplanes of all types. FABA plans to make Fantasy of Flight a yearly stop for their group, which is a treat to all the visitors that come to central Florida's most unique aviation attraction.

This summer, pilots can fulfill their flying fantasy. As of June 1st, 2005, groups of 10 or more airplanes will be granted pre-approved permission to fly in for the day to Fantasy of Flight. Individual planes will not be able to fly in, but pre-arranged and approved groups of 10 planes or more will be able to make reservations to fly in for their own personalized visits to Fantasy of Flight.
