Andy Matthews, the cofounder and Director of Business Development for iFlightPlanner spends some time to explain how the in-flight navigation function of this app works.
He starts off by showing how to verify the preflight planning part of the flight that could already have been performed on their Internet site. Changes to the planed flight can easily be made on the iPad prior to takeoff.
IFlightPlanner includes a GPS generated moving map display, as would be expected, and Matthews demonstrates the navigation capabilities and data retrieval functions. He also demonstrates how an approach plate can be overlaid on the map, and geo-referencing follows you through the approach. The entire flight is recorded and can automatically be synced up on iFlightPlanner.com
Matthews continues to describe the ease of pilot interface with the system, and the best way to learn more about it is to watch the video.
This is part 2 of the iFlightPlanner story; part 1 describes the preflight functions used prior to takeoff.
