ICAO Announces 2018 Opportunities For Young Aviation Professionals

Joint Initiative With IATA And ACI

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has launched a recruitment campaign for the 2018 Young Aviation Professionals Program (YAPP). Talented next generation aviation professionals from around the world are invited to apply.

The unique Program, managed under ICAO’s leadership, is a joint initiative with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and Airports Council International (ACI). It provides an invaluable professional development opportunity, with selected candidates contributing to one or more of ICAO’s Strategic Objectives under the mentorship of a subject-matter expert.

Exploring the important inter-relationships between ICAO and the airline and airport industries, the selected young professionals also work in close collaboration with IATA and ACI experts.

“It is crucial that we act today to engage and encourage the best and brightest of the world’s up and coming generations,” stressed ICAO’s Secretary General, Dr. Fang Liu. “The air transport sector will grow dramatically in the coming decades, and ensuring the skilled human resources necessary to keep our network running is a critical priority. Along with the ICAO Next Generation of Aviation Professionals programme, and our Global Aviation Training efforts, the YAPP initiative helps to support career development and to provide very hands-on benefits to these dedicated young participants.”

To be eligible for the YAPP, applicants must be under 32 years of age, possess advanced university qualifications and have at least two years of employment experience in aviation in an area of operational or regulatory responsibility. Due consideration is given to gender equality and geographic diversity priorities during the selection process.

Interested candidates who meet these criteria must submit their applications through ICAO’s employment site by October 13, 2017. The target date for candidates to report for service to ICAO Headquarters in Montréal will be towards the middle of February 2018.
