AD: The Boeing Company Airplanes

AD NUMBER: 2019-20-02

PRODUCT: All The Boeing Company Model 737-600, -700, -700C, -800, -900, and -900ER series airplanes.

ACTION: Final rule; request for comments.

SUMMARY:  This AD requires repetitive inspections for cracking of the left and right hand side outboard chords of frame fittings and failsafe straps at a certain station, and repair if any cracking is found.

This AD was prompted by reports of cracking discovered in this area.

DATES: This AD is effective October 3, 2019. The FAA must receive comments on this AD by November 18, 2019.

COST: The FAA estimates that this AD affects 1,911 airplanes of U.S. registry. Operators may incur the following costs in order to comply with this AD:

  • Inspection: 1 work-hour × $85 per hour = $85 per airplane per inspection cycle.
  • Reporting: 1 work-hour × $85 per hour = $85 per airplane

The FAA has received no definitive data that would enable the agency to provide cost estimates for the on-condition actions specified in this AD.
