Textron Laying Off An Undisclosed Number Of Workers

Most Will Be Let Go From The Company's Wichita HQ

Textron will be laying off an undisclosed number of workers mainly from its headquarters in Wichita, according to a company spokeswoman.

Television station KSHB reports that in a statement, spokeswoman Stephanie Harder said that most of the jobs lost will be in engineering and business support. Hourly manufacturing and customer support positions will not be affected, she said.

The layoffs will be effective December 31, 2019.

Harder added that the company plans to continue to hire skilled advanced aviation manufacturing positions as needed.

Television station KAKE reports that the layoffs come as Textron has completed development of the Citation Longitude business jet, and the suspension of the Citation Hemisphere.

Work continues on the Cessna Denali and SkyCourier turboprop aircraft.
