Someone Comments ... In Writing ... About A Sex Toy In A
Woman's Luggage
Nearly everyone who has checked luggage on an airplane in recent
years at some point has likely seen a tag on their bag when they
get it back indicating that it has been opened by TSA. But attorney
and writer Jill Filipovic got a little something extra written on
the inspection notice tucked inside her suitcase ... an unsigned
note on a TSA document.
Filipovic reportedly was carrying what she called on her blog
"the most basic lady-thing you can imagine" in her luggage on a
recent business trip, and when she got to her hotel, she opened her
bag to find an inspection notice from TSA that her luggage had
been checked. On the back of the notice was a hand-written note
from someone deep in the bowels of the airport reading "Get your
freak on girl."
Prison Planet reports that, while Filipovic found the
incident very funny ... "I ... just died laughing in my hotel
room," she wrote ... she also told ABC News the note was
"offensive", and she plans to file a formal complaint with TSA. The
writer says she hopes the complaint will remind TSA that riffling
through other people's personal belongings is a serious
responsibility "and should be treated with a modicum of
professionalism."
ABC News reports that a TSA spokesperson said that bags are
handled by many people from the time it is checked until it is
retrieved by the passenger, and there is "no concrete evidence who
wrote the note." But if "inappropriate conduct is discovered," the
agency will take "appropriate disciplinary action."
Meanwhile, a report in USA Today indicates that an unsecured,
loaded gun made it past security in a checked bag at LAX Monday.
The .38 caliber pistol reportedly fell out of a duffel bag that was
being loaded onto a plane headed for Portland, OR. The gun's owner
was questioned by local police, and he took a later flight to his
destination.
TSA says that guns are allowed to be placed in checked luggage,
but they must be in locked containers and not loaded.
