Vans Aircraft Rolls Out A New Variant Of The RV-12 For AirVenture

The RV-12iS Features A Rotax 912iS Engine

Van’s Aircraft is rolling out a new variant of the popular RV-12 for AirVenture; the RV-12iS.

The Rotax 912iS, the fuel injected version of the popular 912 series of engines as a powerplant option for the RV-12, in addition to the 912ULS. The increased fuel economy and proven benefits of electronic fuel injection make it the ideal choice for our next generation RV-12.

But the 912iS engine is only the beginning. Over thousands of flight hours, Van’s engineering team has carefully analyzed how the RV-12 systems and structures have functioned and endured in the real world.

That has led to some significant improvements, including:

  • Reconfigured fuel tank
  • Increased baggage capacity
  • More robust landing gear
  • Electric flaps allow more personal space
  • Easier kit assembly with preformed longerons
  • Bench tested wiring harness
  • Stick grip control of trim, PTT and AP functions
  • Increased electrical capacity for more avionics choices

There are many more refinements that make the RV-12iS an evolutionary leap from the RV-12. “Making a great aircraft better is never easy. Van’s Aircraft has done it.” said Mitch Lock, Company President. The new RV-12iS will be on display at Airventure 2017 in the North Aircraft Display. Van’s staff will be on hand to answer questions and be available for interviews.
