Concorde To Supply Batteries For B717, MD-90

Boeing Has Approved Units As Alternative IRS Standby Power Supplies

Concorde Battery said in a news release Thursday that Boeing has approved Concorde’s RG-150-1 & RG-150-2 battery packs as alternative IRS standby power supplies for Boeing models 717 and MD-90 Series. Concorde says its sealed lead acid recombinant gas (RG), absorbed glass mat (AGM) batteries are a more economical solution with no maintenance requirements and reduced cost per flight hour.

RG-150-1 & RG-150-2 (heated version) are 3.5 Ah, 24 volt standby batteries designed to float directly on the DC buss eliminating the need for a dedicated charger. The high inrush current from the buss provides fast recovery time and extended battery life. RG-150-1 & RG-150-2 batteries are 24 volt battery packs with no internal boosting circuitry.

The straightforward design should eliminate the ADIRU power-up test nuisance faults caused by the original 12 volt ACME P/N 264BS101-1 & Marathon P/N BP-95 power supplies that are boosted to 24 volts. Lead acid technology does not have a memory and does not require unique charging equipment. Concorde RG Series batteries may be serviced in any battery facility, including nickel cadmium service facilities. RG-150-1 & RG-150-2 are constructed with field replaceable battery packs. RG-150 Series batteries dimensionally conform to ARINC 404A, ¼ ATR Short and are TSOC173 approved.

Concorde batteries are a plug in replacement using MD 90 Service Letter MD-90-34-104- A and Boeing 717 Service Letter 717-SL-34-111-A.
