STC Allows for Streamlined, Feature-Rich Audio Setup
Trimec Aviation installed a PS Engineering PAC45A Digital Audio System alongside a Universal Avionics InSight flight deck on a Falcon 2000, paving the way for the system in similar aircraft.
Trimec already received their STC (ST0472NY) for the install, where the InSight suite replaces the Collins Pro Line 4 systems that shipped with Falcon 2000 and 2000EXs. The PAC45A system was accompanied by a trio of CTL45J control heads and a HUB45AR digital audio processor, allowing a third crew station to act as an observer or check airman position. That's a nifty install, allowing that third seater to independently send and recieve with their own comms line. That's perfect for those operations that use their Falcon for checkrides, type ratings, or just trading work between a few crewmembers on long flights. Besides the pilot and copilot, an observer position allows a third person to have independent transmit and receive.
Trimec installed the 'Gunship Grey' CTL45L to match Universal Avionics' furnishings, granting operators individual control over 8 total comms radios and just as many discrete nav audio sources. With that system, installers can hook up as many as 4 control heads to the system, too, should their needs merit it. As in all of out Digital Audio Systems, the hub is the central wiring location for all of the radios and with simply an RS-422 cable serial bus is connected to each control head, making the wiring significantly easier when compared to analog audio controllers. "As in all of our Digital Audio Systems," PS Engineering says, "the hub is the central wiring location for all the radios." All that's required is "simply an RS-422 cable serial bus to each control head," a much simpler wiring arrangement compared to old-school analog audio controllers.
“We’re thrilled to be working with Trimec on the Universal Avionics project,” said Greg Ledbetter, Special Mission Program Manager, “great teams doing great things for the customer and the fleet.”
