Renters Enjoy New Benefits
AVEMCO Insurance
Company announced this week that it has expanded its popular
Aviator Series line of non-owned insurance products. These changes
include a new package offering the Aviator Silver level, and
options for pilots to customize liability and property insurance to
meet their personal needs.
It is estimated that there are as many as 300,000 pilots who
currently fly in rented or borrowed airplanes without adequate
insurance coverage. These pilots are flying aircraft from FBO 's
and flight schools that may carry insurance on their rental fleet;
however, that insurance usually covers only the interests of the
FBO - not of the rental pilot.
In 2003, AVEMCO announced a new line of non-owned insurance
packages called the Aviator Series. This series includes insurance
packages for pilots who rent, as well as CFIs instructing in
aircraft they do not own.
The Aviator Series now includes a new package called Aviator
Silver that allows non-owner pilots who rent or borrow aircraft to
purchase insurance coverage for as little as $215. It
provides $25,000 per person bodily injury, $250,000 of property
damage coverage, $250,000 coverage for all bodily injury and
property damage combined in each accident and $5,000 in aircraft
damage liability coverage. The Aviator Silver package joins
existing Gold, Platinum and Platinum Plus Aviator Series packages
that provide higher limits. In addition, AVEMCO allows their
customers tocustomize their policies by offering selections of
coverage that fit specific needs.
These AVEMCO Non-Owned
insurance packages can be started on-line immediately with an
approved credit card if all underwriting criteria are met. Policy
benefits include up to $1,000 no-fault deductible for
aircraftdamage to reimburse the owner for his or her insurance
deductible regardless of legal liability. The aircraft damage
coverage also includes coverage for loss of use and loss of value.
Liability coverage features unlimited legal defense costs and $100
per day in-patient hospital payments for the insured and spouse,
parents and children, up to a maximum of $5,000. In addition,
pilots completing the AVEMCO/King Schools Risk Management Course
and other recurrency training will qualify for up to 10% in credits
on their non-owned insurance premium with AVEMCO.
