FAA Approves Shadin Fuel Flow Meter on Robinson R66 Turbine Helicopters

Adds Approximately 2 Lbs To The Aircraft’s Empty Weight

Robinson Helicopter Company is now offering Shadin Avionics’ fuel flow meter on new R66s equipped with Garmin GTN 6xx or 750 GPS navigators. The fuel flow meter provides real-time fuel flow data to the GTN which in turn displays the fuel consumption rate along with fuel range rings on a moving map. Fuel used, fuel remaining, fuel to destination, and other real- time information is also available on accessory pages.

The installation adds approximately 2 lbs to the aircraft’s empty weight and lists for $6,800.

The five-seat R66 Turbine helicopter has a two-bladed rotor system, T-bar cyclic -- while utilizing streamlined instrument panels, energy absorbing seats and crashworthy bladder fuel tanks. The R66 boasts a spacious 300 lb capacity baggage compartment and the Rolls Royce RR300 turboshaft engine (300 shp turboshaft; derated to 270 shp for takeoff and 224 shp continuous). The RR300 engine operates on readily available Jet A fuel and offers increased reserve power, additional payload and improved altitude performance. Hydraulic controls eliminate undue feedback forces and provide excellent handling. It uses a 28 volt Electrical System.

The R66 has a Maximum Gross Weight of 2700 lb and an Approximate Empty Weight (including oil & standard avionics) of 1280 lb. Cruise Speed at Maximum Gross Weight allows for up to 110 kts, and a Maximum Range (no reserve) of approximately 350 nm. Hover Ceiling IGE at Maximum Gross Weight over 10,000 ft while the Hover Ceiling OGE at Maximum Gross Weight is over 10,000 ft over 10,000 ft. The Rate of Climb is over 1000 fpm.
