Online Lectures Teach the Fundamentals from the Ground up in Building an Aircraft
The Experimental Aircraft Association is on track to continue its Homebuilders Week online lectures, starting in January 2023.
This year's reception was so positive, the EAA decided to go for round three in 2023, leaning into the ease of access inherent to online learning. The new series will be released from January 23 to 27, coinciding with the Association's 70th anniversary. Since it's foundation in 1953, the EAA has continued to hone its support for grassroots viation for 7 decades straight, constantly improving its teaching materials and course offerings to bolster safety and homebuilt quality.
Like the last 2 years' webinars, the Homebuilders Week presentations are completely free and open to all - but registration is limited due to space requirements. The event is sponsored by some of experimental and sport flying's classic names, like Aircraft Spruce & Specialty, Dynon, Scheme Designers, and Van’s Aircraft. Presentations will begin on the 23rd, starting at 11:30 CST before concluding at 20:15. The webinars won't be some barebones, entry-level work - the EAA says it will include "everything from getting started successfully to techniques when building with sheet metal, composites, steel, and wood. New and experienced builders will also find in-depth talks on panel planning, wiring, engine selection, FAA certification, and flight testing." Afterwards, the sessions will allow for attendee questions, with recordings archived and published for EAA membership.
“More than 14,000 people participated in this year’s Homebuilders Week, showing there continues to be a huge demand for the knowledge and information we are presenting, and making it an easy decision to bring the series back in 2023,” said Charlie Becker, EAA’s director of chapters and homebuilt community manager. “Homebuilders have played a major role in EAA since its founding, and we planned Homebuilders Week to take place in conjunction with the organization’s 70th anniversary to honor and build on our homebuilding roots.”
