FAA Dispatches Investigative Team To Logan

More Radar Problems Reported -- As Far Away As Nashua

Radar delays at Boston's Logan International Airport continue to plague travelers and flight crews, in spite of an FAA investigative team sent by Washington to figure out what's going on.

Problems with the radar site in Nashua, NH, began on Sunday and forced delays of up to five hours on Monday. Controllers switched to a backup site, forcing them to increase separation between flights from three miles to five miles.

"A flock of geese can cause the problem, but this seems to be recurring," FAA spokeswoman Arlene Murray told Boston TV station WCVB.

The delays spread to other airports feeding or fed by Logan traffic.

"Boarding the plane, most people were a little taken aback to find out that there was going to be that long a delay. Couple hours on a plane is not so comfortable, at best," one passenger told the TV station.
