Four Receive Master Instructor Designation In February

National Accreditation Recognized By The FAA

Four instructors have renewed their Master Instructor designation in the month of February.

Master Instructors LLC said in a news release that all were accredited as Masters by Master Instructors LLC, the international Master Instructor accrediting authority. All obtained their designation through the Master Instructor "Fluid Review" program online.

Professional aviation educators who earned or renewed their "Master" title during February 2017 are:

Clifford Floyd "Cliff" Chetwin, Master CFI, Santa Fe, NM (Renew: 1Feb17)
Clifford F Chetwin, a 6-time Master and a charter SAFE member, is the president of Kestrel Aviation LLC, Cliff is a retired National Park Service (NPS) regional chief pilot and aviation program manager. In addition to having served as a SAFE board member, he works as a nationally acclaimed aviation safety lecturer while also serving as a FAASTeam lead representative in the FAA's Albuquerque FSDO area. Andrew David "Drew" Chitiea, Master CFI, Black Hawk, CO (Renew: 31Jan17)

Andrew D Chitiea, a 10-time Master and charter SAFE member, is a published aviation author as well as a corporate pilot, chief pilot, and owner of Colorado Skymaster LLC ( www.ColoradoSkymaster.com ) at Centennial (APA) and Front Range (FTG) airports. He also serves as a FAASTeam representative and a designated pilot examiner (DPE) in the FAA's Denver FSDO area. Drew was one of the first aviation educators to earn the Master designation when the accreditation program was first introduced by then-FAA Administrator Barry Valentine at Oshkosh AirVenture 1997. Judy Ann Phelps, Master CFI-Aerobatic, Santa Paula, CA (Renew: 31Jan17) 
Judy Phelps is a 6-time Master and a member of IAC as well as a charter member of SAFE. The 2011 National CFI of the Year, Judy specializes in aerobatic and emergency maneuver training with CP Aviation (http://CPAviation.com/) at California's Santa Paula Airport (SZP). Richard L "Rich" Stowell Jr, Master CFI-Aerobatic, McCall, ID (Renew: 4Feb17

Richard L Stowell, a 10-time Master and a member of IAC as well as a charter SAFE member, is a nationally known aerobatic instructor specializing in emergency maneuver training and spin recovery, Rich (www.RichStowell.com) teaches primarily at Idaho's Cascade Airport (U70). The 2006 Nat'l CFI of the Year as well as the 2014 Nat'l FAASTeam Rep of the Year and a FAASTeam representative in the FAA's Boise FSDO area, Rich was one of the first aviation educators to earn the Master designation when the accreditation program was first introduced by then-FAA Administrator Barry Valentine at Oshkosh AirVenture 1997. Many of the most recent National Flight Instructors of the Year or National FAASTeam Representatives of the Year were Master CFIs. In addition, the FAA has approved the accreditation as an alternate means for CFIs to renew their flight instructor certificates.
