Aero-TV: Supplementing A Revolutionary STC – The EAA/Dynon STC Evolves Again

Even More Type Certificated Aircraft Owners Can Now Make The Dynon Choice...

The experimental aircraft folks have had an advantage for years by being able to use non FAA approved avionics in their aircraft. Dynon Avionics is well known for supplying this market, while the type certificated airplane owners had to sit on the sideline wishing they could install the Dynon in their aircraft.

Now, EAA and Dynon are working together to get some of their avionics type certificated. While at EAA AirVenture 2016, ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell, checked up on how that process is coming along. To do this, Jim met with Ian Jordan, the Chief Systems Architect for Dynon Avionics.

In the video, you’ll hear Jordan discuss the STC process ‘in detail’ and also announce that more type certificated aircraft have now been approved for Dynon products. In the process of this discussion, Jordan also points to their EFIS-D100, which is a larger variation of their popular model D10A EFIS, which now also falls under the EAA STC.

This video includes valuable information about the move towards allowing previously non-FAA approved avionics into the world of type certificated aircraft and, as a bonus, you’ll also see operational demonstrations of both the D100 EFIS and D10A.
