Texas Aviation Hall Of Fame Inducts Three

And The Entire Corps Of WASPS

Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) will preside Saturday when the Texas Aviation Hall of Fame inducts its newest honorees.

Hutchison, a senator since 1993, is a member of the powerful Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, which, among other things, oversees the nation's airspace.

This is the sixth annual Texas Aviation Hall Of Fame induction ceremony. This year's inductees include:

  • William A. Anders: Lunar module pilot on Apollo 8.
  • George Haddaway: Publisher of "Flight" magazine for more than four decades and founder of Wings of Hope.
  • Oran Nicks: An aerospace pioneer holding research leadership positions at NASA in lunar and planetary programs.
  • Women’s Airforce Service Pilots (WASPS) Their pioneering achievement in completing flight training and flying military aircraft during World War II paved the way for the women who have since served as military pilots.

Saturday night's ceremonies will take place at the Lone Star Museum Of Flight in Galveston (TX).
