San Antonio Company Secures Contracts With Major Manufacturers,
Operators
M7 Aerospace of San Antonio, a
supplier of manufactured parts and assemblies to the aerospace
industry, has been briskly moving into the helicopter market as it
expands from its fixed-wing business activity.
Successful in pursuing manufacturing and engineering
opportunities with major helicopter OEMs (Original Equipment
Manufacturers), M7 Aerospace is now an approved supplier to
AgustaWestland, Sikorsky, MD Helicopter, Erickson Air-Crane and
Bell Helicopter. The company vastly increased its manufactured
parts production in 2007 fueled by demand for helicopter parts and
assemblies. The company anticipates continued growth in its
manufacturing business unit through 2008.
In addition to the increased manufacturing of parts and
assemblies for helicopter OEMs, M7 Aerospace's Engineering Services
division has been awarded contracts for the design and production
of major airframe components for a new multi-mission medium lift
helicopter.
The past year also saw a joint program between Erickson
Air-Crane and M7 Aerospace to repair and modify S-64F Aircrane
center fuselage sections. The program called for structural
repairs, hydraulic and fuel system work, electrical harness
fabrication and replacement and assembly of manufactured parts to
return the fuselages to service in Erickson's Aircrane fleet. M7
Aerospace continues to provide Erickson with parts and specialty
chemical processing for the S-64's unique 32 foot long main rotor
blades.
M7 Aerospace is a member of the Helicopter Association
International (HAI) and exhibited for the first time at the 2008
Heli-Expo held in Houston, TX this spring.
M7 Aerospace, located on the San Antonio International Airport,
operates five business units, including Government Logistics
Support Contracting, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Repair &
Overhaul, Aircraft Parts and Service Support and Engineering
Services. Its 426,000 sq. ft. facilities were formerly occupied by
Fairchild Aircraft.
M7 Aerospace is an approved supplier to major aerospace clients
including Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Spirit Aerosystems and Lockheed
Martin and supports programs such as the C-130, F-16 and the E-2D
Advanced Hawkeye aircraft.
M7 Aerospace began operations on April 1, 2003 with
approximately 175 employees. The company now employs nearly 500
people worldwide and more than 300 in San Antonio.
