Pilot Who Used False Identities Ordered To Repay Former Employers

Had Made Hundreds Of Helicopter Flights Under Assumed Identities

John Michael Dial of Skaneteles, NY had made hundreds of flights as a helicopter pilot for three television stations in San Francisco and Sacramento in California between 2009 and 2012.

The problem was, he used false names to get the jobs ... and that landed him in federal court.

According to an Associated Press report appearing in the Mercury News, the U.S. Department of Transportation on Friday ordered Dial to pay $14,000 in restitution to each of the stations, for a total penalty of $42,000. In October, he had been sentenced to two years in federal prison for lying to FAA officials, and flying under an assumed identity.

Dial had used the names of real people to file false statements with the FAA, and had forged a U.S. passport, according to the report.
