Kent State University Invests In Four Alsim Simulators

Will Be Used By Students In The School's New Aeronautics Academic Center

Kent State University in Ohio has agreed to purchase four simulators from Alsim ... two AL250 and two AL172, to Kent State University’s College of Aeronautics and Engineering (CAE). The simulators will be installed in their new 18,000 square foot Aeronautics Academic Center, slated to open in mid-2019.

Originally opened in 1920 and serving the community for decades, Kent State’s airport is a university asset utilized by CAE’s flight technology program which provides professional aeronautical training to students. A reflection of CAE’s excellence in education as evidenced by its ETAC ABET and AABI accredited academic programs, the new state-of-the-art building will include classrooms, flight debriefing rooms and a faculty research lab in addition to the four Alsim simulators.

Kent State’s new Alsim simulator fleet will complement their aircraft fleet, the largest university fleet in Ohio. It includes 27 single-engine Cessna aircraft, two twin-engine Piper Seminoles and three single-engine Piper Arrows.

“This was a straightforward value-based decision,” said Robert G. Sines, Jr., interim dean, CAE. “The quality and fidelity of the AL250 and AL172 we’ve chosen are outstanding and will seamlessly merge into our existing flight training operations, providing enhanced training opportunities for our students.”

“As a complement to their exceptional simulation products, the customer service we’ve received from ALSIM has been, thus far, nothing short of outstanding,” said Maureen McFarland, PhD, Senior Academic Program Director Aeronautics, CAE. “Willingness and technical ability to accommodate our unique needs was a significant factor in our decision to work with them.”

“We are pleased and honored that Kent State University chose Alsim to help prepare their students for careers in aviation. Kent State has a great reputation of training highly functional and effective aviation professionals and we believe through their Alsim simulator fleet and our partnership, the bar will be raised even higher. We are very excited to see what the future holds," adds Dr. Scott Firsing, Sales and Business Development Manager at Alsim North America.
