The helicopter training market has traditionally been a tough nut to crack, but Guimbal Helicopteres is looking to make the move into that segment.
Helicopteres Guimbal founder and CEO Bruno Guimbal told Aero-News CEO and editor in chef Jim Campbell at HAI that the company had some initial success in the training segment in Europe five or six years ago, and first entered the U.S. market in 2015.
Guimbal said that the company has been making slow but steady progress in the U.S. market for helicopter training. "People are looking for a modern trainer with modern technology. What we are proving now is that it started in Europe and now has extended to North America."
Guimbal said that the G-2 aircraft has many advanced safety features, both static and dynamic, that make it attractive to flight schools. Those include crashworthy seats and fuel systems. The G-2 excels in handling and autorotation, Guimbal said.
The base price for the G-2 is about $370,000. Delivery slots area available through the company's distributer, Precision Helicopter.
