Wings Over The Rockies Hosts NASA Challenge

Aerospace Engineers Critique Student Projects

Local high schoolers, as part of High School Students United with NASA to Create Hardware (HUNCH), had a rare opportunity to receive feedback on school projects from local aerospace officials who may just launch their ideas into space! Wings Over the Rockies, Colorado's Official Air & Space Museum, hosted the event.

Attendees of this event were given a chance to view some of these Design and Prototype projects that students in Cherry Creek Schools and the Jefferson County School District are working on, and aerospace professionals provided valuable feedback to the students. This meeting is considered a Mid-Term Review, where students have 80% of their prototype developed and they are seeking critique and review of their products.

Students in this program are learning the Design Process and how to work as a team to design something useful for crew life on the International Space Station or for future long duration missions. All projects that the students are working on have been identified as needs per the astronaut office at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. Some of these projects include: Food Preservation, Radiation Protection, Protective Footwear, Educational Outreach through Games, Antibacterial and Antimicrobial Growth, Exercise Concepts for Long Duration Missions and more.
