As FA Negotiations Continue, APFA Reaches Out at 11 AAL Bases
American Airlines Flight Attendants are getting in on the picketing action with some standing parties of their own, canvassing 11 AAL bases as their negotiations enter a "critical phase".
The group, represented by the Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA), will conduct a series of picketing events to educate their fellow employees and management on where the FAs stand. They hope that American Airlines management will hear their demands loud and clear. The group will begin picketing on Tuesday, January 24th, 2023 at 11:00 AM. The informational picket will run through 13:00 local at the bases below.
APFA represents the interests of more than 24,000 American Airlines Flight Attendants, helping to add a series of critical provisions impacting pay, quality of work-life, and scheduling to the ongoing contract negotiations. Elements of their current bullet points include reductions in max duty times down to 14 hours from the current 14, improvements in average minimum days, trip rigs, and reserve bidding. Additional compensation improvements would see boosts in holding time, hourly rates, reserve guarantees, and pay for boarding. Smaller issues like a "per diem no less favorable than pilots" and improved parking provisions for commuters have also won attention within the FA body. The negotiation progress is continually updated via APFA's website, with clear and concise offers and counteroffers available to see where both parties stand.
Picket locations include Boston/ Logan International Airport, Charlotte/ Douglas International Airport, Washington National Airport, Dallas/ Ft. Worth International Airport, New York- John F. Kennedy Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, Miami International Airport, Chicago/ O'Hare International Airport, Philadelphia International Airport, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, and San Francisco International Airport.
