NYPD Releases Bomb Plot Info

The Terminal at JFK Was Main Target

On Sunday, the NYPD sent the city scurrying, as it let out some details of what it says is a Muslim extremist plot to blow up part of the terminal at John F Kennedy airport; other named targets included a city clerk's office at 120-55 Queens Boulevard and the Airport Exxon gas station (near the airport).

The plot was uncovered by US Customs, which clued the FBI and the police in on it: "The attack will be executed using three explosive devices weighing 100 kilograms. The explosive devices will be placed in three cars, which will be set to detonate remotely," the bulletin said. "The car will launch from an assembly point in Ozone Park."

The New York Post says the gas station owner noticed a cop car parked outside his station since Friday; but the cop wouldn't tell him why he was there.

The threat was from a source of "unknown reliability," and thus the threat was of "low credibility." We don't know if that is why the police were told; or if that's why they told us.

[Albany (NY) was mentioned several times in the police leak; it is possible that this latest plot was hatched by the same fellow (captured in upstate NY) who gave us all those names and photos over New Year's --ed.]
