Jeppesen FlightDeck Pro Now Available On iPad

Company Says EFB Enhances Situational Awareness And Flight Efficiency

Jeppesen is now offering operators an enhanced version of its industry-leading FliteDeck Pro electronic flight bag (EFB) solution for iPad. New iOS 7-compliant features and functionality of FliteDeck Pro will help airlines and other large operators work more efficiently, with improved access to critical flight information and shared data between devices.

The new Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro version features new departure and arrival runway depiction (SID and STAR) rendering on the enroute map to increase pilot situational awareness. A new "Flight Info Drawer" feature redesigns the previous Route Drawer to create, load, view, and save the active flight data from either the terminal charts view or the enroute view. Pilots are also now able to create user-defined waypoints and comments to identify important points along the enroute map.

"Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro ensures the right information is delivered at the right time to simplify complex airline and large-scale fleet operations," said Tim Huegel, director, Jeppesen Aviation Portfolio Management. "Our latest version of FliteDeck Pro on iPad further streamlines access to data, including capabilities for sharing data across apps and devices to drive enhanced efficiency."

New integration and collaboration capabilities such as app-to-app route sharing and the ability to now import flight plans from third party flight planning systems provides the right information to the pilot at the right time in support of flight preparation and execution needs. The new device-to-device route sharing creates a more efficient working environment in a two-pilot cockpit. Shared data across devices includes origin, destination and any alternate airports. Navaids, waypoints, (including user-defined waypoints), airways entered into the route description and selected terminal charts for the flight are also included, facilitating crew resource management.

Additional navigation information that was not included in previous FliteDeck Pro versions is now noted on-screen, including intersection formations, distance between VORs, changeover points and signal gaps. Weather data can also now be displayed on the enroute map to further increase situational awareness in flight.

Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro helps streamline the use of navigational information for airlines, fractional business jet operators and military fleet programs. Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro also enables significant weight savings and reduced fuel consumption with removal of paper content from the operation.

In addition to highly compressed and vector-based Jeppesen terminal charts, FliteDeck Pro includes data-driven enroute content, which is dynamically rendered and de-cluttered for the pilot's current needs. Information for all enroute charted features is available with the tap of a finger, including communication information, operational notes, and current weather conditions and runway details for destination or alternate airports. Jeppesen airway manual documents are included and company documents can be inserted, enabling even more paper removal for operators while increasing content usability.
