Ag-Cat Pilot In Deadly Crash Identified

Crop duster down on Wednesday in Iowa, impacted trees while working a field

The pilot of an Ag-Cat G-164B (file photo, below) that crashed after impacting trees in a field near Moville (IA) has been identified as Alan Foster, 44, of Adel (IA). The crash took place on Wednesday just before noon, as the pilot was working a field. The aircraft, N48424, was completely destroyed and the pilot was dead at the scene.

According authorities, the pilot was spraying soybeans at a farm owned by a Mr. Brian Ashley when it impacted trees and crashed. Conditions were VFR when the aircraft departed Husband Field Airport near Dallas Center (IA).

The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration and the Woodbury County Sheriff's office.
