uAvionix Ups The Game In Connected Cockpits For Certified Aircraft

Another Day... Another USCG MH-60 Helo Rescue

Coast Guard Helo Rescues Mariner From Sailboat On Fire 60 Miles East Of Chincoteague

The Coast Guard rescued a mariner late Thursday evening from a sailboat on fire nearly 60 miles east of Chincoteague. Fifth Coast Guard District Command Center watchstanders received a 406-megahertz Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon at approximately 8:30 p.m. for the 45-foot sailing vessel Trilogy. Watchstanders directed the launch of an HC-130 Hercules airplane crew and an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, as well as issued an Automated Mutual Assistance Vessel Rescue alert.

World Games to Include Drone Racing

FPV Racing Joins the Roster of Lesser Known Sports For 2025 Chinese Games

The World Games 2025 schedule for drone racing has been published, with the big 32-man race scheduled to take part from August 14 to 16, 2025. The races will be held at the Dong'an Lake Sports Park, in Chengdu, China, pitting 32 competitors through a ringer of FPV speed racing. The proposed schedule also adds a day prior to the competition start for model processing, so pilots have a chance to walk through the track, practice, and prep their gear after a long flight to China.

Coulson Aviation Snags SWA 737 for Fireliner Conversion

New 737-700 to Become Most Modern, Advanced Narrowbody Firefighter Yet

Firefighting specialist Coulson Aviation has shown off the newest addition to their fleet, a former Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-700. The new aircraft is a first for the team, since prior Fireliners were built on a 737-300 platform until now. Coulson notes that so far, every one of its aircraft come courtesy of Southwest Airlines, a carrier that's always been a sort of poster boy for the narrowbody Boeings. The Next Gen Fireliner will improve on the older mods' payload and capability, thanks to those trickle-down updates from the -700.  It'll sport a 5,000 gallon payload, lower fuel burn, improved endurance, and higher speeds across the board.

NASA, Mission Partners Answer Questions Behind Starliner Scrub

Managers from NASA, Boeing, and ULA (United Launch Alliance) have disclosed ongoing work ahead of sending NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams to the International Space Station as part of the agency’s Boeing Crew Flight Test. The media update detailed a valve ULA replaced on the Centaur upper stage of the Atlas V rocket, as well as a small helium leak in the spacecraft’s service module, and a propulsion system assessment to understand potential helium system impacts on some Starliner return scenarios.

NTSB Prelim: Bell 206-L4

The Helicopter Rotated About 180° To The Left And Descended Rapidly In A Nose Low Attitude Until It Went Out Of View 

On April 26, 2024, at 0659 mountain daylight time, a Bell 206-L4, N988B (File Photo Below), was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Anaconda, Montana. The pilot was fatally injured. The helicopter was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 137 aerial application flight. The pilot had been conducting flights to distribute fertilizer from the same staging location for several days. An employee of the operator, who was performing ground support duties, met the pilot at their base at the Deer Lodge-City-Municipal Airport (38S), Deer Lodge, Montana, about 0545 on the day of the accident.
