AAR Expands MRO Facility at OKC

AAR Breaks Ground on New MRO Facility on Oklahoma City

In a significant development for the aviation MRO industry, AAR Corporation has commenced the expansion of its maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility in Oklahoma City. The groundbreaking ceremony, held Monday morning, was attended by over 150 representatives from AAR, Alaska Airlines, state and local government, and partner organizations.

The new three-bay facility, adjacent to AAR's existing site at Will Rogers World Airport, is set to provide an additional 80,000+ square feet of hangar and warehouse space. Designed to accommodate all 737 variants, including the 737-10, the expansion is an I indication of AAR's growth in the region and its longstanding partnership with Alaska Airlines. The MRO facility is expected to be operational by January 2026.

Funding for the project has been secured through a grant from Oklahoma legislators, with additional support expected from rent concessions from the airport. The expansion is poised to create 200 additional full-time jobs, which AAR plans to fill through local technical schools and workforce development partners.

John M. Holmes, AAR's Chairman, President, and CEO, expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts that made the groundbreaking possible. He highlighted the importance of expanding aviation in Oklahoma and the opportunities this project will bring for job creation and workforce development.

Jeff Mulder, Oklahoma City's Director of Airports, emphasized the significance of the expansion for providing more hangar capacity and aviation jobs in the community. Jason Bishop, Vice President of JE Dunn in Oklahoma City, who is leading the construction effort, underscored the project's focus on delivering an excellent experience for all involved.

The expansion of AAR's MRO facility in Oklahoma City marks a significant milestone in the company's growth and its commitment to supporting the aviation industry.
