CMC Electronics Inc. has been selected by Norway's Heli-One to
provide its CMA-9000 Flight Management System (FMS), as well as its
24-channel CMA-3024 Global Positioning System (GPS) Sensor for a
military VIP Puma operator. This is the first program to introduce
the combined CMC product offering of the CMA-9000 FMS and the
CMA-3024 GPS Sensor for a helicopter retrofit application.
The CMA-9000 FMS builds on the company's CMA-3000 FMS, that has
been previously installed on the Eurocopter EC-135, EC-145, EC-225,
AS-532 and AS-330 helicopters. With increased memory, input/output
and faster processing, the CMA-9000 offers increased capability for
integration with a large number of helicopter avionics for both
military and commercial operators.
The CMA-9000 FMS is a self-contained, high performance,
multi-function control and display unit that enables the
integration of navigation sensors and radio, communication radios,
displays and other mission avionics. The integrated avionics can be
centrally managed and controlled, thereby reducing pilot workload
and improving situational awareness and mission effectiveness.
The performance of the CMA-9000 FMS is further improved with the
integration of the CMA-3024 GPS sensor. The CMA-3024 GPS is a
fourth generation aviation ARINC-743a sensor that uses a 24-channel
GPS receiver that is certified to TSO-145a. This sensor takes
advantage of the Narrow Correlator signal processing technology
developed by NovAtel. The CMA-3024 offers advanced technology and
compatibility, supporting applications such as FMS, RNP, ADS-B,
TCAS, TAWS, RNAV and MMR. This product has been purposely designed
to support GPS precision approach modes LNAV/VNAV, LPV and GLS and
is upgradeable to SBAS, GBAS, WAAS (TSO-145a) EGNOS and LAAS.
"With the CMC Electronics' CMA-9000 FMS and CMA-3024 GPS already
established on Military Trainer and Air Transport aircraft, this
latest award builds on the credibility of both products to enhance
the operational requirements on a variety of fixed wing and rotary
wing platforms," said Cathy Bain, CMC’s vice president
marketing and sales.
Managing a global fleet of more than 225 aircraft and employing
a team of more than 800 professionals worldwide, Heli-One is the
world’s largest independent helicopter support company.
