Aero-TV: ADS-B AND GA -- The Future is Here... Now

The Future of GA Nav Is Not As Mysterious As You Might Think

ADS-B... it's akin to magic to a number of flyers. And so when the subject came up for the umpteenth time in conversations with some of our constituency, we decided to ask a few of the experts for their experiences, and insights, into all things ADS-B. To start with, though, we pointed the Aero-TV magic mic and cameras at FreeFlight Systems... some folks who know more than a little bit about the topic.

Better yet, we cornered Tim Taylor, President and CEO, of FreeFlight... a guy with over 35 years of leadership experience in the aerospace and defense industries. As the former CEO of Elbit Systems of America, he reportedly pioneered the introduction of new technology-based systems for customers such as Gulfstream Aerospace and Federal Express. He has also previously held executive level positions with GEC - Marconi and AlliedSignal Aerospace.

FreeFlight Systems, itself, is a manufacturer of avionics system solutions for commercial and military aircraft, and tells ANN that it was the first company to certify an airborne WAAS receiver.

Founded in 2001 through the acquisition of Trimble's avionics products division, FreeFlight Systems specializes in the design, development, and production of GPS navigation management systems, GPS/WAAS sensors, and radar altimeters.

The company is based in Waco, Texas.
