EAA 2023 Sport Aviation Hall of Fame Inductees Named

The Spirit of Aviation Embodied

The Experimental Aircraft Association Sport Aviation Halls of Fame will grow by five inductees, the entirety of which will be honored as part of the Association’s Class of 2023.

The five inductees, to the one, represent discrete aviation foci; specifically: homebuilders, ultralights, the International Aerobatic Club, the Vintage Aircraft Association, and EAA Warbirds of America.

The 2023 inductees include:

  • EAA Homebuilders Hall of Fame: Neal Loving (posthumous)—a pioneer black aviator, aircraft designer, homebuilder, and aerospace engineer known for designing the WR-1 midget racer known colloquially as Loving’s Love.
  • International Aerobatic Club Hall of Fame: Lew Shattuck—1978 IAC National Champion in the Unlimited category, who flew in regional and national competitions until the age of 85.
  • Warbirds of America Hall of Fame: Charles “Chuck” Greenhill (posthumous)—famed restorer of warbird aircraft, including the only surviving Grumman J2F-4 Duck from the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.
  • Vintage Aircraft Association Hall of Fame: John Parish Sr.—co-founder of the Beechcraft Heritage Museum.
  • EAA Ultralights Hall of Fame: Paul Mather—President of M-Squared Aircraft, creators of the Breese X/L ultralight vehicle.

The EAA Sport Aviation Halls of Fame was established to honor the outstanding achievements of men and women who share the spirit of EAA and its community. Inductees are selected by their peers on the basis of their respective contributions to those facets of aviation to which they ply their expertise, experience, and passion.

The EAA will honor the Class of 2023 at a dinner ceremony on Thursday, 09 November 2023, in the Eagle Hangar of the EAA Aviation Museum.

Parties interested in learning more about 2023’s inductees to the EAA’s Sport Aviation Halls of Fame are invited to visit EAA.org/HallofFame .

Founded in 1953 by a group of aviation enthusiasts headed by veteran aviator Paul Poberezny, the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) is an Oshkosh, Wisconsin-based non-profit aviation and aerospace organization dedicated to growing participation in flight, aircraft construction, and other aeronautical endeavors via the sharing of the spirit of aviation. Globally, the EAA’s two-hundred-thousand-strong member base is organized into nearly one-thousand chapters.
