Reach Agreement On Exclusive Worldwide Distribution Rights
Pratt & Whitney and Aviall Services, Inc., have reached an
agreement for the exclusive worldwide distribution of JT9D spare
parts. Under the agreement, Aviall will supply new Pratt &
Whitney Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) spare parts to JT9D
engine operators throughout the world.
"By working with Aviall to distribute all JT9D spare parts we
can offer enhanced value to our customers while simultaneously
managing our inventory and supply chain more effectively," said
Todd Kallman, president, Pratt & Whitney Commercial Engines.
"We have worked closely with Aviall and are confident that their
broad distribution network will continue to support our customers
with the world-class customer service they expect from Pratt &
Whitney."
The JT9D was produced from 1969 through 1990 and powers Boeing
747 and 767 aircraft, Airbus A300 and A310 aircraft and McDonnell
Douglas DC-10 aircraft. There are currently more than 1,200 engines
installed with operators around the world. Pratt & Whitney will
work with Aviall to ensure their critical core competencies of
inventory forecasting and management, field sales and marketing,
product fulfillment, quality management and technology backed tools
result in a seamless transition for Pratt & Whitney's
customers.
"This
is an exciting opportunity for both Pratt & Whitney and for
Aviall. It is a perfect match of their exceptional products and our
aftermarket expertise," said Paul Fulchino, chairman, president and
chief executive officer, Aviall, Inc. "The signing of this
agreement is another step in expanding our diverse business
portfolio for continued long-term growth."
Pratt & Whitney has more than 16,000 aircraft engines
installed with hundreds of airlines around the world. Pratt &
Whitney is also a leading partner in two joint venture companies
that manufacture commercial aircraft engines: International Aero
Engines, which makes the V2500 for the Airbus A320 family of
aircraft, and the Engine Alliance, whose GP7200 engine is FAR 33
certified for the new Airbus A380.
