FlightSafety Int'l Appoints Whitman As President
The Founder and
Chairman of FlightSafety International, A. L. Ueltschi, has
announced the appointment of Bruce N. Whitman as President. Mr.
Whitman has been FlightSafety's Executive Vice President for many
years.
Mr. Ueltschi, who founded the company in 1951, will retain the
title of Chairman. He has guided the organization as its chief
executive since that time.
"Safety is what we're
all about and Bruce knows that as well as anyone in the world,"
said Ueltschi when making the announcement. "He clearly represents
our customer-centered culture and the consistent integrity that is
the core of this company."
Whitman joined FlightSafety in 1961 as Assistant to the
President. He was named Vice President and a Director later that
year. In 1962 he was elected Executive Vice President and has held
that position until today's promotion.
A long list of contributions to aviation and aviation safety
characterize Mr. Whitman's career as an officer of FlightSafety and
an active member of the aviation community. He has served, or now
serves, on many prominent boards including the Flight Safety
Foundation, the Associate Member Advisory Council of the National
Business Aviation Association, the Smithsonian National Air and
Space Museum, the Civil Air Patrol and the Congressional Medal of
Honor Foundation.
Whitman is a graduate of Kent School, where he is a trustee, and
holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Trinity College. He served as
an officer in the USAF's Strategic Air Command with triple ratings
of pilot, navigator and bombardier. He was later a flight
instructor in the Air Force Reserve.
