Aero-TV: Electric E430 - Electric Aircraft Expert Yuneec Preps Nextgen Flyers

Yuneec Is Far More Than Just A Drone Company…

Yuneec is very well known in the drone community, but before they started making quadcopters, they were a leader in the world of electric manned aviation. And one of their latest airplanes is the Yuneec E-430.

Speaking to ANN CEO and Editor in Chief Jim Campbell at CES in Las Vegas, Yuneec Director of Marketing Jeff Fassbinder said the company is working with the FAA to get a designation for electric aircraft so that more pilots can be introduced to flying behind an electric motor rather than a reciprocating engine.

Fassbinder said the top speed of the two-place E-430 is “right around 90 miles per hour. Cruise is around 60 miles per hour. Flight time, you’re looking at about two-and-a-half hours.” But with battery improvements, the next generation of the airplane will probably get about three hours of flight time on a charge.

The base price as a trainer of the E-430 will be right around $99,000. The price will range up to $149,000 as a recreational airplane.
