Avolon Delivers Its 1st Boeing 787-9 To Virgin Atlantic

Three Additional B787-9 Aircraft Scheduled for Delivery To Virgin

International leasing company Avolon has delivered the first of four Boeing 787-9 to Virgin Atlantic.

“Our latest delivery to Virgin Atlantic represents a milestone for both Avolon and Virgin," said Dómhnal Slattery, Avalon's Chief Executive Officer. "It is our first delivery of a Boeing 787-9, of which we have a further nine in our committed fleet. At Avolon our objective is to play a significant role in financing the next generation of young, modern and fuel efficient aircraft for our global airline customer base. We believe the B787-9 is the perfect complement to Virgin Atlantic’s current fleet.

"Our team has developed a strong working relationship with Virgin Atlantic. We admire the energy of their team and their relentless innovation in delivering a unique customer experience. We look forward to the future working and innovating together.”

“Virgin Atlantic has spent the last 30 years delighting customers and we know this aircraft will allow us to take that even further, while also making a significant difference to our fuel efficiency," said Virgin Atlantic CEO Craig Kreeger. "We have an excellent relationship with Avolon and we look forward to continuing to work with the Avolon team in expanding our future fleet, which will have the 787-9 at its heart.”
