Saudi Prince Fatally Injured In Helicopter Accident

Aircraft Went Down Near Border With Yemen

A Saudi Arabian Prince has been fatally injured in a helicopter accident near the country's border with Yemen, according to Saudi state television.

MSN reports that Prince Mansour bin Muqrin, the deputy governor of Asir province, was aboard the aircraft with several other officials when it went down.

Prince Mansour bin Muqrin is the son of another former crown prince, according to the report. His father, Muqrin bin Abdul Aziz, was ousted by King Salman, his half-brother, shortly after Salman ascended to the throne in 2015.

The condition of the other occupants of the helicopter is not yet know, but the Saudi news outlet Okaz relayed unconfirmed reports that there were no survivors.

Saudi Arabian officials said that a ballistic missile, fired from Yemen, was intercepted near Riyadh airport the day before the accident.
