Airborne 02.15.13: $11B Aero-Merger, Patrouille Suisse Cut, More Sequestration $

Also: Super Cub SAIB, Iranian Fighter Fraud, Orion Chute-Out, Garmin Radar Altimeter, Lightspeed FlightLink

AMR Corporation, the parent company of American Airlines, Inc., and US Airways Group, today announced that the boards of directors of both companies have unanimously approved a definitive merger agreement under which the companies will combine to create the world's largest airline, with an implied combined equity value of approximately $11 billion based on the price of US Airways' stock as of February 13, 2013.

Imagine how you’d feel if the Federal Government disbanded the Blue Angels or the Thunderbirds. Well perhaps you can appreciate the outrage sweeping through Switzerland with news that their beloved Patrouille Suisse will be grounded after 2016. We’ve already heard from the Navy that sequestration – if it happens, could cut the second half of the 2013 Blue Angels show schedule, now The Air Force says that among the items on the sequestration chopping block is participation in the Paris Air Show. All this... and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
