Challenger Aviation Products Announces New Lifetime Oil Filter

Pending FAA-PMA Approval

Every year, over 100 million disposable oil filters are thrown into landfills, along with thousands of gallons of residual oil inside the crushed filters -- which is why the latest announcement from Challenger Aviation Products is such an exciting one.

Challenger representatives tell Aero-News the company recently unveiled a revolutionary new lifetime, reusable oil filter. The company's Pure Power oil filters are machined from polished aircraft quality forged billet aluminum. Inside the housing is a re-cleanable, stainless steel mesh element that flows 20 gallons of clean oil per minute through it, trapping and holding dirt as small as 10 microns in diameter.

"For reference, a human hair is 50 microns," notes CAP president Chuck Rocco.

Disposable oil filters have paper fiber elements, that filter oil flow across the element but not through it, which allows random dirt particles to get through. Given enough time, dirt caught by paper filters will become clogged, allowing dirty oil to bypass the filter and rush back into the engine -- adding to increased inside engine wear.

Challenger oil filters are currently pending FAA-PMA approval. They are available for engines used on all experimental aircraft, notes the company.
