Gulfstream Makes Malaysian Debut at Selangor

G280 and G600 Chosen for Poster Planes in Malaysian Push

Gulfstream made its Malaysian airshow debut at Selangor Aviation Show 2023, bringing out its "super-midsize" Gulfstream G280 with a Gulfstream G600 on display.

The airshow, running from September 7 - 9 at SkyPark Regional Aviation Centre in Selangor, makes a first for the company as it looks to further its sales footprint around the globe. Gulfstream Aerospace has been on the upswing in recent years, bolstered by improving product lineups and a boom in business aviation, charter interest, and private flight around the world.

“Gulfstream is seeing increasing interest in our aircraft across Southeast Asia, and Malaysia is experiencing significant growth in business aviation,” said Scott Neal, senior vice president, Worldwide Sales, Gulfstream. “We are pleased to be making our Malaysian airshow debut at Selangor Aviation Show this week and excited to showcase the class-leading G280 and G600 to customers here, both of which are ideal for operators based in the region.”

Given the usual airfields of Asia, the G280 was a deliberate choice for the market, offering the performance needed for shorter runways and tighter approaches than many of the more spacious accommodations seen out West. The G280 has enough takeoff performance, true, but it eschews the true STOL spirit with solid top-end performance, featuring a cruise speed of 0.8 mach for up to 3,600 nm. The 19-pax G600 is the more premium of the two, boasting the firm's new flight deck, a 6,600-nm range, and a max speed of 0.925 mach to the G280's 0.85.

The company has further enhanced services in the region to accommodate new buyers, adding authorized warranty facilities like Mjets in Bangkok, Thailand, and in China, Deer Jet in Beijing; Business Aviation Asia Limited in Shenzhen; and ExecuJet Haite Aviation Services China in Tianjin.
