Heli-Expo 2006: Robinson Delivers R22 & R44 to SKY Helicopters

SKY Helicopters of Dallas will take delivery of the new R22 Beta II and R44 Raven II on display at the Robinson Helicopter Company booth. Both aircraft were flown in from the Robinson factory in Southern California for Heli-Expo’06.

SKY Helicopters is the Fixed Base Operator (FBO) of the Garland/DFW Heliport, Texas’ largest full-service public heliport, and provides a full range of services including air taxi, flight training, environmental reconnaissance, fuel sales, maintenance, and aerial survey. SKY also owns and operates three R44 Newscopters used by both local and national news organizations.

In May 2005 SKY completed construction of new public terminal and hangar buildings. The buildings, designed with features for a highly visible city environment, include a 6,000 square-foot terminal with conference rooms, a pilot lounge, and office space for future tenants. The new hangar can house up to 40 helicopters. The new R44 is SKY’s fifth 4-seat Robinson and was purchased for use in their charter fleet.

The R22 Beta II will augment SKY’s current training fleet of five R22s. Both aircraft have red pearl metallic/light bronze pearl metallic paint and tan leather interior. The R22 has the King KY197A radio, cabin heater/defogger, and engine priming system.

The R44 has the new air conditioning system, pilot-side console, and Bose head sets. Established in 1992, SKY Helicopters is owned and managed by Ken and Connie Pyatt. SKY is a Part 135 operator and a Robinson authorized Dealer and Service Center for the R22 and R44 helicopters.
