At the NBAA Convention 2013, ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell talks with Randy Brooks, the Vice President of Training and Business Development for Aviation Performance Solutions (APS). In this video you learn about upset prevention and recovery training.
While it’s common to think that this sort of training applies primarily to general aviation aircraft, that’s not the case. Recent events in the airline industry have led to regulations requiring airline pilots receive academic and simulator training in upset recovery skills. APS has a multipronged approach to providing this training.
APS operates a fleet of nine Extra 300 2-place aerobatic airplanes located in the United States and Europe. They also operate a level D simulator capable of demonstrating upset training in an airline operation. Added to this, they have the capability of providing actual upset training at high altitude and Mach speeds in a privately operated Douglas A4 Skyhawk.
Whether it’s general aviation, airlines, or corporate aviation, upset recovery training can be of vital importance for safety. This video provides interesting insight into how APS is helping to improve safety through advanced training.
