Sling TSi Making Non-Stop Flight From CA to KOSH

Will Go For Ceiling Expansion During The Flight

A Sling TSi is attempting to fly non-stop from Torrence, CA to Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, WI today, a distance of 1,512 nautical miles.

The flight was set to depart Torrence (KTOA) at 0700 local time, and arrive at Oshkosh before 1900 local time, which is under 10 hours given the change in time zones.

The flight plan calls for an average speed of about 160 knots true. Sling says that the purpose of the flight is to expand the ceiling of the Sling TSi and to demonstrate the range and cruise speeds possible. Normal cruise is 155 KTAS at 9,500′ at 8 GPH. Turbocharged FADEC engine allows the airplane to climb into the 20,000’+ flight levels.

Aircraft is Sling TSi with standard tanks (45 gallon) plus long range wing tip tanks (an additional 22 gallon total) plus internal portable tanks (20 gallons) for a total of 87 gallons.

Sling will have the airplane on display all week at AirVenture, and will be available for demo rides during the show.

You can follow the flight here.
