FAA Issues STC For Installation Of MT-Propeller Prop On Maule Aircraft

Follows EASA STC For The Same Aircraft

The FAA has issued an STC to MT-Propeller Entwicklung GmbH for the installation of its next generation 3-blade scimitar composite propeller MTV-9-B/198-52 on the Maule M-6-235, M-7-235, M-7-235B, MX-7-235 and MT-7-235. The installation was previously granted an STC by EASA.

According to MT-Propeller Vice President Martin Albrecht, the installation enhances take-off distance by approximately five percent, and boosts climb performance by the same amount (MTOW, SL, ISA conditions). The composite prop weighs about two pounds less than the original 2-blade propellers and some 25 pounds less than the original 3-blade propellers.

Cruise performance is increased by 2 to 3 knots, according to the company.

When used in combination with the Gomolzig exhaust muffler MXT 606500 “erhöhter Schallschutz”, strict German Noise Regulation LVL is are attained with design series equipped with engines turning at a maximum of 2400 rpm.

The MT-Propeller natural composite blades provide significant inside and outside noise reduction. They have no life limitation, and are repairable in case of foreign object damage.

They also provide almost vibration free propeller operation and have bonded on stainless steel leading edges for best erosion protection of the blades, the company says.
