Becker Avionics DVCS6100 Selected For Critical Care Hospital Helos

EastCare EC135 and EC145 Helos To Get Upgraded Avionics

Becker Avionics announced that Pitt County Memorial Hospital (PCMH) has selected the Becker Avionics Digital Audio and Intercom System (DVCS6100) for installation in their newly ordered EC135 and EC145 helicopters.  EastCare is a critical care air and ground transport service, based at PCMH in Greenville, that provides both rapid transportation and advanced medical care to critically ill and injured patients 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Rhonda Reeder, administrator for EastCare, stated, “We selected the Becker Avionics DVCS6100 Digital Audio and Intercom System for our new EC135 and EC145 helicopters because it provides our pilots and med crews with state-of-the art digital technology, superior sound quality, high reliability, and ease of maintenance."

" Our air medical program is focused on safety and having advanced technology systems on board our aircraft is vital to accomplishing that goal, " continued Reeder.  "Becker’s reputation and leadership in the aircraft digital audio realm convinced us to choose their system for our new aircraft. Our partner, Air Methods Corporation, is installing the Becker system on our aircraft at their high-tech and innovative Products Division in Denver.”

As the flagship hospital for University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina, PCMH serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at ECU and provides healthcare to more than 1.2 million people in 29 counties.

EastCare supplements local emergency services through helicopter and critical care ground unit service, neonatal transport and basic life support transport. As part of University Health Systems, EastCare is able to extend a high level of trauma service and specialized medical expertise throughout the 29-county region. Their transport teams are located throughout the region and can depart within five minutes of receiving a call.

EastCare’s helicopters, operated by Air Methods Corporation, are self-contained emergency treatment centers with advanced trauma and life support equipment for one patient. They operate in a range of 150 miles to and from Greenville without refueling and can fly directly to the scene of an accident or disaster.
