New Category To Be Added to Awards For Accident-Free Flying
The NBAA will for the first time in 2013 recognize private pilots for outstanding safe flying achievement. NBAA believes that safety accomplishments in all forms should be recognized. Many NBAA Members in the light business airplane (LBA) community have flown safely for business for decades with a private pilot certificate. NBAA's new Private Pilot Safety Award will now provide official recognition for the safety achievements of this LBA segment.
Founded in 1953, NBAA's Flying Safety Awards have brought worldwide recognition to the excellent safety record of business aviation, recognizing thousands of Member Companies and individuals for accident-free flying.
The new award category will join the following existing categories honoring the safety records compiled by NBAA Member Company management, maintenance, pilot and support personnel teams:
- Corporate Business Flying Safety Award
- Commercial Business Flying Safety Award
- Pilot Safety Award
- Aviation Maintenance Department Safety Award
- Maintenance/Avionics Technician Safety Award
- Aviation Support Services Safety Award
Additionally, NBAA's Safe Flying Achievement Awards annually recognize qualifying companies for reaching the safety milestone of flying for 50, 60 or 75 years or more without an aviation accident.
The Association offers a wide range of resources to help promote a culture of safety in business aviation operations, including safety management system resources and support of safety events at the national and regional levels. Additionally, NBAA’s Safety Committee comprises more than two dozen distinguished individuals who are committed to enhancing all aspects of business aviation safety by providing materials, advice and guidance on matters relating to the safe operation of aircraft.
Applications for the 2013 Flying Safety Awards will be made available to NBAA Members by early 2013.
