NY Appellate Court Issues Injunction Preserving Access to JPX

NY Court Upholds Injunction Preserving Public Access to East Hampton Town Airport

The New York State Supreme Court's Appellate Division, Second Judicial Department, has upheld a court injunction preserving public access to East Hampton Town Airport (JPX) in New York. The decision follows an attempt by the town of East Hampton to limit operations at the airport, which was found to be in non-compliance with the Airport Noise and Capacity Act of 1990 (ANCA). In May 2022, town officials sought to close the former East Hampton Airport (HTO) and open a new private-use airport with mandatory curfews and other restrictions. However, this move was blocked by a court injunction, which has now been affirmed by the appellate court.

ARSA and Six Other Organizations Appeals to FAA Against New Drug and Alcohol Test Expansion

The Aeronautical Repair Station Association (ARSA), along with six other aviation trade associations, has submitted a joint appeal to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to withdraw its proposed rulemaking on extending drug and alcohol testing requirements to repair station personnel located outside the United States. The associations argue that the rulemaking is inconsistent with the Administrative Procedure Act's requirement for regulations to have a rational basis. The groups contend that the proposed rule unfairly targets foreign nationals by imposing regulations not applied to U.S. citizens performing similar work abroad. They also highlight

Sen. Grassley Critical of FAA Registration Loopholes

Grassley Report Faults FAA for Loopholes in Registration Process

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), co-chair of the Senate Caucus on International Narcotics Control, has released a report highlighting the exploitation of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) registration loopholes by drug cartels and other criminal entities. The report underscores the role of these loopholes in facilitating the global drug trade and posing a threat to national security. According to Grassley, the FAA's lax approach to registration has enabled criminals to use shell companies and noncitizen trusts to register aircraft in the United States. These planes are often employed by cartels to transport and deliver illicit drugs, exacerbating the drug crisis and imposing

Junkers Finally ‘Corrects’ The A50 Junior with a Radial Engine

All is As It Should Be Once Again

Junkers Aircraft has shown up to Sun ‘n Fun 2024 with a much-requested variation of their A50 LSA, replacing the original homage’s nose-mounted Rotax engine with a much more period accurate Scarlett 7 radial engine. The new model is called the A50 Heritage, differentiating it from the Rotax-powered version that caught so much attention in 2023. It’s understandable why the firm started out with the Rotax version first, despite its overall commitment to providing as much historically-accurate design as they possibly can: The Rotax is a pretty well-known, trusted, affordable, and fuel-sipping powerplant with a fairly modular footprint.
