Airborne-Unmanned 09.17.19: Flirtey Unveiling, Silent Arrow, AIRT UAS

Also: Dubai Police, Volocopter $$$, RAF Selects Leonardo, Rafael Acquisition

In an event held last week at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., Flirtey unveiled an advanced drone delivery technology aircraft dubbed Flirtey Eagle, and released a video of its next-generation delivery drone performing consumer and automated external defibrillator (AED) deliveries to customer homes.

Flirtey's system is designed to safely get packages to customers with the delivery goal of less than 10 minutes using drones. The aircraft designer and manufacturer unveiled the Flirtey Eagle, an advanced delivery drone; the Flirtey Portal, a sophisticated takeoff and landing platform that enables scalable store-to-door operations; and an autonomous software platform that enables drones to deliver safely to American homes. Yates Electrospace Corporation has debited their Silent Arrow GD-2000 cargo delivery drone at the Defence & Security Equipment International (DSEI) show in London. Silent Arrow is a production-ready, 1-ton, autonomous cargo aircraft, which reportedly delivers up to 1,631 pounds of supplies at less than half the cost of JPADS with more than double the glide ratio, improved landing accuracy, zero vertical impact force and with far greater stealth. Silent Arrow addresses both the tactical resupply, and the humanitarian / disaster relief markets. Members of the Airborne International Response Team (AIRT) formed a joint-reconnaissance team with members of the Southeast Florida Region 7 All-Hazards Incident Management Team (SEFL-R7 AHIMT) to survey damage across the hardest hit areas of Grand Bahama and the Abaco Islands in the Northern Bahamas following Hurricane Dorian. Using UAS, the team conducted damage assessment operations at the University of the Bahamas – Northern Campus, and nearby neighborhoods that were hit hard by the deadly hurricane. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne-Unmanned!!!
