When the FAA required EAA to sign a contract to pay for air traffic control services for AirVenture 2013, it opened up a can of worms.
EAA paid the price and then filed a petition in court arguing that the FAA has no legal right to charge for ATC services without clear Congressional authorization. However, EAA was facing the reality for AirVenture 2014 that air traffic services might not be provided at all if the matter remained unsettled in the courts. To resolve the issue and guaranteed air traffic services for AirVenture 2014, EAA withdrew the suit and reached agreement with the FAA to provide the services… for a fee. It just keeps getting better from Cessna as they upgrade and improve their CJ line of business jets. The new CJ3+ includes a fully integrated Garmin G3000 avionics suite, all-new interiors with a redesigned cabin and cockpit, new pressurization, and a new diagnostics systems. EAA members are speaking with a common voice as it relates to the General Aviation Protection Act. Nearly 28,000 EAA members sent messages to their elected representatives urging their support of House Bill HR3708 and Senate Bill S2103.
