EASA Grants STC For QFJ 5-Blade Propeller On The Socata TBM 900

Approved For Airplanes Powered By P&WC PT6A-66D turbine.

EASA has granted an STC (#10033038-R1) to MT-Propeller for the installation of its next generation 5-blade scimitar composite Quiet Fan Jet propeller MTV-27-1-E-C-F-R(P)/CFR225-55f on Socata TBM 900 airplanes powered by P&WC PT6A-66D turbine engines.

This installation is already supplemental type certified by the FAA (#SA02958NY).

MT-Propeller said in a news release that, according to the certification flight test, the installation weighs approximately 18 lbs less than the original metal propeller; offers cooler ITT on ground with condition lever at low and high idle position; requires no propeller speed restrictions on ground while operating in low idle, and; reduces outside noise by 3 dB(A) and inside by 1.5 dB(A)

Due to the smaller diameter the MT-Propeller for the Socata TBM 900 has more ground clearance for less blade tip erosion. The MT-Propeller natural composite blades provide significant inside and outside noise reduction. They have no life limitations and are repairable in case of damage.

The company says the prop also provides the vibration damping characteristics for almost vibration free propeller operation and have bonded on nickel alloy leading edges for superior erosion protection of the blades.

All models comply with the strict German noise regulations 2010– "Landeplatz Lärmschutz Verordnung" for unrestricted airport operations in Germany and other European Countries.
