Airborne 05.03.17: Evolutionary Upgrades, John Goglia, UAS Facility Maps

Also: Cleburne Airshow, Gulfstream, GoPro Karma, Rockwell Collins, Dumb Drone Trix, Aireon, Pratt & Whitney

Evolution Aircraft Company has upgraded their product line by adding two additional Turbine models to their lineup of experimental aircraft kits. In addition to adding two models, each Evolution Turbine now comes equipped with the new ETouch Flightdeck Interface that revolutionizes the situational awareness of the pilot.

Kevin Eldredge, the President Evolution Aircraft Company explains, “While the EVOT-750 and Lycoming piston model offer a great range of performance, we found that two additional engines from Pratt & Whitney that will bolt right on our Evolution kit will give you even more fantastic performance." The Professional Aviation Maintenance Association has selected its new chairman, The Honorable John Goglia. “PAMA’s Board is deeply committed to providing aviation maintenance technicians with the tools and support needed to ensure a strong aviation infrastructure for our nation,” said past PAMA Chairman Roger Sickler.  “PAMA will be well served with John managing the day-to-day operations of the association, building upon the services and benefits we offer our members and the industry.” The FAA has published more than 200 facility maps to streamline the commercial drone authorization process. The maps depict areas and altitudes near airports where UAS may operate safely. But drone operators still need FAA authorization to fly in those areas. The maps will help drone operators improve the quality of their Part 107 airspace authorization requests and help the FAA process the requests more quickly. The maps are informational and do not give people permission to fly drones. Remote pilots must still submit an online airspace authorization application. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
